Caleb Haberman believes in the power of live theater. He is a lover of all kinds of storytelling, but as a Gen Z theater maker, he sees that the ritual of coming together to create and appreciate art is uniquely equipped to tackle the problems of today.

Who I Am

Born and raised in Southern California, Caleb ventured to the frigid Midwest to attend the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program, where he discovered a passion for directing. During his time in Minneapolis, he directed This Is Our Youth (Bryant Lake Bowl & Theater) and All in the Timing (UMN/Guthrie BFA Freeplay), assistant directed Anne Boleyn (Guthrie Dowling Studio) and the world premiere of Holmes/Poirot (Park Square Theatre) and co-created the original work Off-Kilter (UMN Open Stage) as part of an experiment in non-hierarchical collaboration.

As an actor, Caleb has performed in numerous productions through the UMN/Guthrie BFA program, including Uncle Vanya (Vanya), Hamlet (Polonius), and The Winter’s Tale (Shepherd) at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. He also appeared in Streetcar Time Machine, an educational production for young audiences at the Minnesota History Center.

Now based in Chicago, he hopes to continue creating bold, collaborative theater, forge meaningful artistic connections, and—perhaps one day—learn to tolerate cold weather.
